I wanted to go to Gettysburg during the Anniversary of the battle to be able to do the special Ranger Hikes that are offered at that time.
I stopped at the Washington D.C. temple on the way back to the airport.
This was actually just sitting and listening to a ranger at Cemetery Hill.
The McPherson Barn at Gettysburg
The Trostle Barn. Notice the round hole in the side of the barn--that is from a cannonball.
I did the Benning's Brigade hike on July 2nd and hiked from Warfield Ridge to The Devil's Den on the battlefield.
We hiked past the Bushman & Slyder Farms.
There were a whole lot of people on the Benning's Brigade Hike.
Devil's Den
I also did the Farnsworth's Charge Hike on July 3rd.
This was the hike I wanted to do the most. I followed in the footsteps of a Virginia Regiment that participated in and was decimated during Pickett's Charge. We hiked in the exact footsteps of this regiment at the exact time of day that Pickett's Charge happened.
After my hike with the ranger on Cemetery Ridge.
There were a lot of people at Cemetery Ridge.
After Gettysburg, I drove down to Fredericksburg, Virginia
I hiked through the woods doing the John Gordon flank attack trail at the Wilderness Battlefield.

The Sunken Road is now as it was during the battle. The Innis house can be seen in the distance on the right hand side.
